We’re in the middle of a big transition — moving to a different state with a 12-year-old isn’t easy — but Ms. Cheryl has been absolutely fantastic. She’s understanding when life gets in the way, and she’s been amenable to including coursework that my daughter is struggling with. Ms. Cheryl helped her study for a big math test and was hugely helpful. Can’t recommend her enough!
When my child needed help Cheryl was there for us! I see and hear improvement in my child’s confidence after every lesson. She engages with her students and gets them to laugh and have fun while learning. Works on current subjects and practices previous as well. Highly RECOMMEND.
Cheryl is amazing and has tremendously helped my daughter have more confidence in math. She also has tips for test anxiety! She is also very flexible and had worked around things that came up.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does online math tutoring work?
We will connect on Zoom. I’ll give you an ID that you’ll use each time we log on with each other.
During each session, we will use an interactive whiteboard. I can post questions, diagrams, etc. Your child can write and draw on the whiteboard as if we were sitting together.
You will need a computer connection, and then download Zoom and the interactive whiteboard. You’ll need an ipad or a laptop/desktop with a mouse or touchpad. If you buy an inexpensive graphics tablet (Huion or Wacom) then you can use a stylus pen to write.
Before we start, I will send you a welcome letter with complete instructions on how to set up.
how long will my child need math tutoring?
The answer to this question depends on:
Closing gaps in math concepts and mastering skills
With one on one online math tutoring kids can get the exact help that they need to close the gaps and gain confidence with their math skills. Every child is unique.
Your goals
Does your child want to catch up to grade level? Get an A? Become the best in the math class?
Learning Disabilities
If your child has been diagnosed with a learning disability, it will take more time than other kids. This is because it takes longer for things to go from their short term memory to their long term memory. In these cases, your child benefits from more repetition.
Consistency
Sometimes life gets in the way of students being able to show up for their tutoring sessions.
If students miss too many sessions, then it becomes harder to close the gap.
The more consistent we both are, the better results your child gets.
how long are your sessions?
It depends on the needs of your child.
For middle school students, sessions are 50 minutes.
There are exceptions for children with learning challenges in which case, the session time will be based on each individual’s needs.
how much does online math tutoring cost?
Tutoring costs $70 for a 50 minute session.
For groups of two, the cost is $50 per student. For groups of three or more, the cost is $40 per student. The sessions are always 50 minutes.
Your child will have me, a qualified senior math teacher, as their tutor each session.
